I qualified as a dentist after graduating from the Bristol Dental School in 2004. I went on to hold various senior house officer posts in teaching hospitals in the UK. Here I gained experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Special Needs and Children’s Dentistry. I also enjoyed the opportunity to teach undergraduate dental students.
After completing a three-year Masters and Specialist Registrar Program in Orthodontics, at Kings College Hospital London, I completed my specialist training in Orthodontics in 2012. In addition to specialist training – I then undertook further training at Guys & St. Thomas’ Hospital and Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, in the management of complex orthodontic cases, facial surgery, children with special needs, cleft lip and palate and hypodontia (missing teeth).
I now divide my time between private practice and my position as an NHS Consultant Orthodontist at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. In hospital, I am part of the Orthognathic Team that provides combined treatment, using braces and jaw surgery, to restore facial and functional harmony. I am also part of the pediatric dental team. I provide orthodontic treatment to children with special needs, complex medical conditions, cardiac problems, and molar incisal hypoplasia.
I have a special interest in treating complex cases in children, teenagers and adults. I also have an interest in facial and smile aesthetics. Apart from using conventional braces to treat patients, I also use lingual braces and the Invisalign aligner system.
To me successful orthodontic treatment encompasses beautiful straight teeth, a healthy bite and a satisfied patient. The first step towards successful orthodontic treatment is making the correct diagnosis combined with appreciating the needs and concerns of each individual patient. Once I incorporate these into my patient’s treatment plan . . . . I know I am on the road to success.
