Surgical procedures at Covent Garden Dental Spa

Wisdom tooth removal – If your wisdom tooth is causing you pain, is affecting your other teeth, or is stuck, we need to remove it. Wisdom tooth removal is a common procedure, regularly performed at our dental spa. We use local anaesthetic to ensure you remain comfortable throughout the surgery.

Complex tooth extractions – If your problem tooth is very large, broken off at the gum line, or stuck in your gum, a surgical extraction is necessary. We make a small incision in your gum to access your tooth and remove it successfully. We may have to break larger teeth into parts. The affected area in your mouth is numbed using local anaesthetic to minimise pain.

Dental implants – Your dental implants are fitted by our prosthodontist during a surgical procedure. Using local anaesthetic to minimise any discomfort, your small titanium implants are placed into your jawbone and your gum is stitched back over the top.

Frequently asked questions

What happens after my tooth extraction?

Immediately after your tooth has been taken out, try to keep the site clean by rinsing with warm, salty water. Encourage healing of the affected area by eating softer foods and chewing on the opposite side of your mouth. Also, try to avoid smoking or using a straw, as these can dislodge the clot that forms in the hole after extraction.

I’m feeling nervous about oral surgery - can you help?

We understand you may be feeling nervous or worried about upcoming oral surgery, and there are many ways we can help. We always put you first, taking time to make sure you feel comfortable. Our calm and tranquil spa-like environment will also put you at ease. If you are feeling very nervous, we also offer IV sedation to completely relax you before and during your procedure.

Is oral surgery painful?

We prioritise your comfort, and use local anaesthetic to numb your mouth before your procedure, significantly reducing any pain. Afterwards, you may experience some soreness, which can be easily managed with over-the-counter pain medication, as advised by your dentist. This also does not last long.

How long does tooth extraction take?

The duration of tooth removal depends on the complexity of your case. Impacted or difficult-to-remove teeth will require more time. We’ll provide an estimated timeframe before we begin and keep you informed throughout the procedure.

What will my recovery be like?

Oral surgery can be complex, so you will need time to recover following your procedure. Recovery time depends on your individual case, but we recommend all patients rest for at least a couple of hours before resuming normal activities. Please speak to your dentist if you have any questions.
