Veneers

Transform the appearance of your smile

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells that are bonded to your natural teeth to change the shape, colour or size and improve overall appearance. They are designed to hide any imperfections such as discolouration, chips and misalignment and deliver exceptional results. Whether you need just one veneer or a whole arch, you’ll be amazed at the difference they can make!

What does the treatment process for veneers involve?

We first carry out a consultation so we can make sure your teeth and gums are perfectly healthy and you are suitable for treatment. We also discuss the treatment process with you and take the time to understand exactly what you are hoping to achieve with veneers.

We use our in-house iTero scanner to take digital scans of your mouth. These scans help us plan your new veneers, and you will be able to see how veneers can transform your teeth and create your new smile. We will also show you some veneer examples, and you can choose which type you prefer. We offer porcelain veneers and contact lens veneers, which are ultra-thin and need minimal preparation. We can discuss this with you and help you make an informed choice.

Once you’re happy with the look that we’ve come up with together, we will prepare your teeth if you need to have a layer of enamel removed. Your veneers are created in a dental laboratory and take around two weeks, so we fit temporary veneers to keep your teeth protected while you wait.  Your temporary veneers will be modelled from the diagnostic wax-up, so you can preview your new smile. If you feel any changes need to be made to the permanent veneers, please let us know!

When we receive your veneers, we’ll see you again for your fitting. We make sure the look is exactly what you expected before we fix the veneers using a dental adhesive.

Frequently asked questions

How long do veneers last?

A porcelain veneer can last up to 10 years and sometimes even longer if looked after correctly. Composite veneers tend to last up to about 2 years. Frequent check ups, regular hygiene sessions and good oral hygiene at home will ensure your veneers last for as long as possible.

What are veneers made from?

A veneer can be made from either dental porcelain or a composite material. A composite veneer can be placed directly onto the tooth by the dentist, or it can be indirectly fabricated, where the veneer is made in the laboratory and the dentist later bonds the veneer on to the tooth. Porcelain veneers are solely indirect restorations. They tend to be the more popular option as they are stronger, last longer and have better cosmetics for a more natural appearance.

How do I look after my veneers?

After fitting, it is important to keep your veneer well-maintained with regular brushing and flossing. Your dentist and hygienist will show you how to keep on top of your dental hygiene and keep a close eye on the health of your teeth and gums.

What are the benefits of veneers?

Veneers provide a quick and effective solution for achieving a radiant, flawless smile. Whether you’re looking to correct minor dental issues or completely transform your teeth, veneers offer a durable, natural-looking, and long-lasting solution that can boost your confidence and help you love your smile again.

Are there any disadvantages to veneer treatment?

Porcelain veneer treatment involves removing some natural tooth structure, which is usually otherwise healthy. Due to this, porcelain veneers are irreversible, and designed to be kept on your teeth permanently.

Are there any alternatives to veneers?

If you are looking to improve the colour of your teeth, whitening treatment can be used as a great alternative. If position and alignment are your reason for seeking treatment, Invisalign could also be considered.
